Authorised Powers

Transparency is the key to integrity

The Child Recovery Agency (CRA) operates as an independent contractor in support of law enforcement, government agencies, and non-government organisations involved in combating child sexual exploitation and human trafficking.

CRA provides specialist operational support, including intelligence gathering, surveillance, reconnaissance, victim recovery support, repatriation, and extraction services. Our role is to assist and enhance the capabilities of authorised agencies through specialist expertise, operational experience, and international collaboration.

CRA agents are not law enforcement officers and do not possess police powers or arrest authority. All operational activities are conducted in support of, and in coordination with, the appropriate government and law enforcement authorities.

As an international organisation, CRA operates under Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) and other formal agreements where applicable. These operational frameworks differ from country to country, ensuring that all activities are conducted in accordance with local laws, government requirements, and the specific authorities granted within each jurisdiction.

Key factor

The Child Recovery Agency (CRA) is an independent, fully registered organisation that is licensed and authorised to provide the specialist services it offers.

CRA is not funded by, nor directly affiliated with, the Australian Federal Government or Australian law enforcement agencies. We operate independently while working in cooperation with government, law enforcement, and non-government organisations under formal agreements and authorisations where applicable.

Our independence enables us to support authorised agencies both domestically and internationally while maintaining the flexibility to operate within the legal and operational frameworks of each country in which we work.
